What is he doing in the 2nd picture from the top is that a blanket or is he in something?

At his two month check-up he weighed 12lbs. 12oz. but that was 4 weeks ago. He's probably close to 14 lbs. now.

In the second from the top picture he's lying on the floor on a sort of activity mat thing. It's just a mat that has some stuffed animals hanging from it that he can bat at and stuff.
